### Favorite feature

Joining a meeting was the one feature very early on that convinced me Raycast is _the_ replacement for Spotlight + Alfred. Combine that with upcoming events shown in the menu bar, and it’s a game changer.

### Most used Commands, Quicklinks, Scripts and Snippets

Search Screenshots. In my day-to-day I extensively use screenshots and screen captures. Browsing them in a grid, plus finding the ones based on text inside them, is such a timesaver.

Triggering Homekit through [Shortcuts.app](http://Shortcuts.app). It’s just so convenient to change light scenes at home within seconds.

[Create Reminders](https://www.raycast.com/extensions/reminders). I used a lot of different todo apps throughout the years and came back full circle to the default Apple Reminders app. Hitting a hotkey to then jot down some keywords as reminders works great for me.

Toggle System Appearance. I often switch to dark mode before the sun’s down, but also for testing purposes at work. So I happen to use this one a lot.

[Clipboard History](https://www.raycast.com/extensions/clipboard-history). I copy a lot of things and CMD+X is often my preferred way of deleting text. So for those moments where I need to recover an older piece, I’m happy that Raycast has got my back.

[Window Management](https://www.raycast.com/extensions/window-management). Maximize, Almost Maximize, Left Half and Right Half are the ones that I bound hotkeys to.

[Emoji Picker](https://www.raycast.com/FezVrasta/emoji). The moment this launched, I replaced the default macOS shortcut for the Emoji Picker.

I also have a couple of basic Quicklinks set up for recurring meeting notes and projects in Notion (that open in the macOS app using Choosy). And lastly, some common [Google Translate](https://www.raycast.com/gebeto/translate) actions.

I’m the biggest user of [CleanShot X](https://www.raycast.com/Aayush9029/cleanshotx). For the few types of actions I don’t have hotkeys for, I use Raycast: Self-Timer, Capture Text, Scrolling Capture, Capture Previous Area and Open from Clipboard.

### Aliases, hotkeys, and fallback searches

**Aliases:** I’ve set up hotkeys for all my frequently used Commands, and aliases for the few that I don’t need too frequently.

`c` for Contacts

`cl` for Clipboard History

`d` for Define Word

**Hotkeys:** My left hand is always hovering over the modifier keys. My hotkeys are often a combination of keys, mostly to prevent conflicts. Some of the complex looking ones are also due to some legacy setup and muscle memory.

`Option + F` for Files Search

`CMD + Option + Shift + P` for Pitch.app

`CMD + Option + Shift + 1` for 1Password

`CMD + Option + Shift + S` for Search Screenshots

`CMD + Option + Shift + R` for Create Reminder

The Raycast Slack community is very active but still easy to follow. And a team or community member always responds in a helpful way. Whenever I share suggestions or bugs they all get followed up on quite quickly.

Last but not least: Confetti! It’s a lot of fun! And always surprising to an audience when I trigger it while screen sharing.

It is so hard to pick a favorite but I am consistently delighted by the [Random Raycast Wallpaper](https://www.raycast.com/koinzhang/raycast-wallpaper) command. I will usually run it once a week & have a beautiful new desktop wallpaper which adds a level of professionalism to my screenshots for documentation.

Taking full advantage of the custom keyboard shortcuts helps create a lot of efficiencies at work. Everyday I use Raycast to [resize windows](https://www.raycast.com/extensions/window-management) for half screen or quarter screen alignments to make multitasking much easier.

I also use the [create JIRA ticket](https://www.raycast.com/raycast/jira) & floating notes to never miss capturing ideas during product reviews! Here are a few more to call out:

**Clipboard History**

I use the clipboard all the time to grab code snippets, URLs, screenshots and whatever else I need. I love how you can search screenshots by the text in them too; makes finding things super easy.

**My Schedule**

I auto-join every meeting I have from Raycast. I haven’t clicked an in-calendar link in months.

**Calculator (for conversions)**

I often need to do little conversions throughout the day (e.g. working out what the recent 40°C temperature in London is in Fahrenheit) and love that Raycast is smart about picking those conversion questions up.

**Window Management**

Window management is probably my most used feature. I use it daily to move my windows around into, and match the keybindings to Vim so I can do so seamlessly.

**File Search**

I rarely open Finder these days. Everything is done from Raycast’s file search.

**Toggle System Appearance**

I develop lots of UI at [Attio](https://attio.com/), where having good looking light and dark modes is really important to us. I switch back and forth multiple times a day.

**Quicklinks (to query my database)**

I have a quicklink to open a SQL console into my development/production database. I can type “Query Cloud DB” or “Query Cloud DB --production” to open the relevant page in the Google Cloud dashboard.

**Auto Open and Close Slack**

This one I’m quite proud of. I’ve set up an Apple Shortcut so that I can open Slack from Raycast, then automatically close it four minutes later.

I have some slightly funny-looking commands set up due to the fact that I have one key on my [Ergodox](https://ergodox-ez.com/) configured to `⌘ ^ ⌥ ⇧` (sometimes called “Hyper”) and one to `^ ⌥ ⇧`. This means that all my shortcuts require no more than 2 keys to be pressed.

- `^ ⌥ ⇧ + C` - Show clipboard viewer
- `^ ⌥ ⇧ + D` - Define word
- `⌥ + G` - Search currently highlighted text with Google

**Window Management**

- `⌘ ^ ⌥ ⇧ + M` - Maximise window
- `⌘ ^ ⌥ ⇧ + H` - Align window left half
- `⌘ ^ ⌥ ⇧ + L` - Align window right half
- `⌘ ^ ⌥ ⇧ + J` - Align window bottom half
- `⌘ ^ ⌥ ⇧ + K` - Align window top half

I’d say Search DuckDuckGo, [File Search](https://www.raycast.com/extensions/file-search) by Raycast and I use the [Figma Files](https://www.raycast.com/michaelschultz/figma-files-raycast-extension) extension from the Store quite a lot. It makes it easy to find and open files inside Figma, without looking around the app.
